Product questions
Custom-made lengths
Custom-made lengths are available for selected gold necklaces and bracelets with item numbers beginning with "10-". The length of these necklaces and bracelets can be adjusted as a special order. This service is not available for every chain type. If you are interested in a custom-made length, please contact us using the contact form or by email.
The Gemstone jewellery category also includes necklaces and bracelets that can be shortened. You will find this option in the "Free shortening" drop-down menu in the product description.
Custom-made options are not available for any other items.
Engraving
We do not offer engraving services.
We recommend having your jewellery engraved by a jeweller of your choice. This allows you to discuss the engraving in person and make sure the result matches your wishes.
Certificate of authenticity
We provide a certificate of authenticity for items whose product description expressly states that a certificate is included.
For all other precious-metal products, the corresponding hallmarks on the items serve as evidence of the authenticity of the alloys.
Necklace and bracelet lengths
The length stated in our product descriptions always refers to the total length of the necklace or bracelet, including the clasp and end ring or end piece. The item is measured straightened out or under slight tension to ensure that its full length is recorded correctly.
Total diamond weight
The product details always state the combined weight of all diamonds set in the piece of jewellery.
Earrings: weight and quantity supplied
Earrings are supplied as a pair. The price and weight stated apply to the pair. In some cases, we also offer single earrings. Where this is the case, the product description expressly states that the item is one earring rather than a pair.
What does "diamond-cut" mean in jewellery?
The term "diamond-cut" refers to the cutting and finish of a piece of jewellery's surface. It describes flat facets cut into the surface, for example on a necklace, bracelet or earring. The size and width of these facets vary according to the design. They reflect incoming light particularly strongly, creating attractive sparkle and light effects. The term does not mean that the jewellery is set with diamonds.
What does "semi-solid" mean in jewellery?
A semi-solid piece of jewellery is made from the stated precious-metal alloy but is not completely solid throughout: it contains hollow spaces inside. This uses less precious metal, making the piece lighter and allowing it to be offered at a lower price. Despite its sturdy construction, semi-solid jewellery can be more sensitive to strong pressure and deformation than a solid version and should therefore be worn and stored with care.
Silver jewellery in three finishes: untreated, rhodium-plated and gold-plated
Our online shop offers 925 silver jewellery in several finishes: untreated (not rhodium-plated), rhodium-plated and gold-plated. Each finish has its own characteristics and advantages.
Untreated silver (not rhodium-plated)
Silver is a natural metal that oxidises relatively quickly when exposed to air, moisture or substances such as perfume, lotion and perspiration. As the surface has no protective coating against tarnishing, it may darken over time. This is not damage, but a natural characteristic of the metal. Many people appreciate the distinctive appeal of this "antique look". If you prefer a bright shine that lasts longer, consider choosing a rhodium-plated piece.
Rhodium-plated silver
Rhodium-plated jewellery has a hard layer of rhodium on its surface. Rhodium is a valuable, high-quality metal that protects silver against tarnishing. Rhodium-plated pieces retain their shine for significantly longer. The silver underneath may begin to darken only after the rhodium layer has worn away through extended use. Our product descriptions, and sometimes the titles, clearly state when a piece of 925 silver jewellery is rhodium-plated. The coating requires extra work and material, so rhodium-plated items cost slightly more, but are easier to care for and more durable.
Gold-plated silver
We also offer gold-plated silver jewellery. A thin layer of 14 ct gold is applied to the silver. Depending on how the piece is worn and the wear on its surface, this layer may become lighter or wear away over time. This is a normal process and a typical characteristic of gold-plated jewellery, rather than a manufacturing defect.
Choosing your finish
Whichever finish you choose, every piece of jewellery needs appropriate care. Rhodium-plated silver offers the best protection against tarnishing and is therefore particularly popular. Untreated silver develops a darker colour more quickly, which is often appreciated for its individual character. Gold-plated silver offers a warm golden shine that may change over time.
Buying jewellery from private sellers / trade-ins
